The planned renovation of Waco’s 51-year-old Bledsoe-Miller Community Center, located on the banks of the Brazos River in downtown Waco, aims to transform the historic facility into a vibrant hub for science, technology, engineering, math (STEM), and cultural arts. This ambitious project will offer state-of-the-art facilities designed to inspire learning, creativity, and community engagement for people of all ages.
The vision for the project is to create a space where the entire community can come together to work, play, and learn in an inclusive environment that fosters personal growth and development.
Key spaces in the renovated center will include a teaching kitchen for culinary classes, food start-ups, and cooking workshops. A robotics lab will offer hands-on opportunities for exploring robotics, coding, and engineering. The recording studio will be a creative outlet for music production, podcasting, and digital media projects. A demonstration space will serve as a flexible venue for workshops, performances, and exhibitions. Multipurpose classrooms will host educational programs covering a wide range of subjects, from coding to art and community discussions. The computer lab will support both virtual and in-person learning, while the immersive lab will offer experiential education, simulating real-world scenarios to help participants develop practical, real-world skills.
With a total project cost of $13,705,532.04, this redevelopment will enrich the lives of Waco residents and create a lasting legacy. As this transformative project progresses, it promises to enhance learning opportunities and build a stronger, more connected community. Stay tuned for updates!
