This keynote project for Jarrell ISD will provide a new 22,000sf facility for all performing arts activities for the district. The focal point of this project is obviously the 750 seat Auditorium equipped with all necessary theatrical lighting, rigging, A/V, and acoustics for all types of performances. Beyond the Auditorium piece there is a “Black Box”, dressing rooms, make-up rooms, and ample storage space for all performing arts related materials and equipment. The layout of this facility will provide a multitude functions for all campuses within Jarrell ISD.
The lobby area will be large enough for congregating before and after performances and provides a high level of finishes throughout, including a second level balcony with glass railing overlooking the vast lobby space. Across the balcony the exterior curtainwall system will wash the interior with natural light and create a very open feel for all patrons of the facility. Given the location of this facility at the front of the existing High School, the design team put an emphasis on the façade so it would standout but still tie-in with the existing building it is adjoining. There will be a mixture of composite & metal panels, masonry, stone, and glazing along the exterior that will truly make this facility an icon in the Jarrell community for years to come.
